Ok the thing is I'm almost certain I've been to that cafe (the one in the video) with French people. For brunch. There was some kind of confusion, I think because they didn't understand the lack of table service? Also I think that was the first time I had to explain what French Toast is to a french person. It was all very confusing.

Wait, they PAY people for this stuff? Shit, I could write this in my sleep.

French toast in French is 'pain perdu', literally 'lost bread' as it is traditionally made with bread that's too stale to eat but which absorbs really well yet doesn't get to soggy. It's not on a lot of menus there, as I recall.
